How Long Does a Bathroom Remodel Take?

Tile, waterproofing and inspections set the pace of a bathroom, not demolition.

Short answer: About 1–2 weeks on site for a hall-bath update, 2–4 weeks for a full remodel, and 4–6 weeks for a primary suite with layout changes, including permits and inspections. Moving a drain or adding circuits adds permits; ordering the vanity, glass and tile before demolition keeps the room from sitting open.

What sets the timeline

Scope. A new vanity, toilet, tub surround and floor in the same layout moves fast. Moving the shower or drain means opening the floor, rough-in inspections and more drying time.

Waterproofing and tile. A shower pan or membrane, its cure and any flood test come before tile, then grout and sealing. Rushing these is how leaks start.

Glass. A frameless shower door is measured after the tile is done, then made to order, so it is often the last item in.

Permits

Bathrooms almost always need plumbing and electrical permits, plus a building permit if the layout moves. We pull them and schedule the inspections.
