Hiring Questions

What people ask before they apply

Straight answers, including the pay. Maryland law requires a wage range in every posting and we think that is the right way round anyway.

Which roles are open right now?

Two. Roof Inspector / Neighborhood Canvasser — 8 openings, 1099, commission only. Roofing Sales Representative — 20 openings, W2. Both are in Maryland. Those are the only two requisitions we have. If you find one of our older postings for another role on a job board, it is out of date and we are not hiring for it.

What does the canvasser role pay?

Roof Inspector / Neighborhood Canvasser is commission only, on a 1099 basis — there is no hourly rate and no base. You are paid per inspection booked and on what those bookings turn into, and the full structure is walked through with you before you accept anything.

What does the sales representative role pay?

Commission only — there is no hourly rate and no base. You earn 10% of the contract value on a lead we hand you, and 15% on work you generate yourself. Experienced reps, and anyone bringing their own vehicle, start at 15% on self-generated work. A vehicle is required. The published range for the role is $31,200–$112,000 a year, which is what that structure produces across the volumes our reps actually write — the bottom of the range is someone writing a handful of jobs, the top is someone working the territory properly. Do I need roofing experience to get hired?

Not for the canvasser role — we train you, paid, before you knock a single door. For the sales representative role, in-home or B2C sales experience helps a great deal; we teach the roofing and the insurance side.

Where do you hire? Do you work in Virginia, DC or Pennsylvania?

We work in Maryland and Virginia, and take no work in the District of Columbia or Pennsylvania. Most work sits in Montgomery County, Maryland. We are licensed MHIC #111971 in Maryland and Class A in Virginia — and both of these openings are staffed for Maryland counties today.

Is the work year round or seasonal?

Year round. Storm restoration peaks in spring and summer, and repairs, siding and gutters fill the winter, so crews are not sent home when the weather turns.
