What sets the timeline
Scope. New counters, sink and appliances in the same layout is a refresh. New cabinets and finishes is a full remodel. Moving walls, plumbing or gas is a gut.
Permits. Moving or adding a sink, gas line, light or circuit means trade permits and inspections, and a wall change means a building permit. In Montgomery County electrical work is permitted separately, so a kitchen that touches wiring is at least two permits.
Lead times. Semi-custom cabinets and stone counters (templated after the cabinets go in) are usually the long poles. We order before demolition so the room is not open while you wait.
A typical full-remodel sequence
Design and written scope; ordering and permits; demolition; rough plumbing and electrical with inspections; drywall and paint; cabinets; counter template and install; backsplash, fixtures and appliances; final inspection and punch list.
Living through it
Plan a temporary kitchen, a microwave, a kettle and the fridge in another room, for the on-site weeks. A clear written schedule and one project manager are what keep it from stretching.
