Who permits the work
The City of Annapolis issues its own permits for properties inside the city, and the historic district adds a preservation review for exterior changes. Outside the city limits, permits go through Anne Arundel County instead. Which applies to you is the first thing we confirm.
For a rooftop array that generally means two permits rather than one: a building permit for anything fastened to the roof
structure, and a separate electrical permit for everything downstream of it, pulled by the licensed electrician on the job. We

What Annapolis homes are actually built like
Annapolis ranges from 18th- and 19th-century houses downtown to mid-century and newer housing outside the historic district. Downtown, expect masonry, plaster and structural surprises; the written scope after the walkthrough is the only number worth planning around.
For solar that matters in two specific places: the age and condition of the roof covering, which decides whether the array
goes on now or after a replacement, and the capacity of the electrical service, which a licensed electrician confirms before
anything is designed.
